Method
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, thoroughly mash the two ripe bananas until they are smooth with no large lumps.2 ripe bananas, mashed
- Stir in the unsweetened applesauce and the xylitol-free peanut butter until well combined.2 ripe bananas, mashed, 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce, 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter (xylitol-free ONLY)
- Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) and the aluminum-free baking powder to the wet mixture. Mix until a thick, soft dough forms. It should be sticky but manageable. If it’s too wet, add a little more flour, a tablespoon at a time. If too dry, add a tiny bit more applesauce.1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free dogs), 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
- Drop rounded spoonfuls of the dough onto a parchment-lined tray that fits into your air fryer basket. Leave a little space between each treat as they will expand slightly. Alternatively, you can roll the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly.
- Carefully place the tray into the preheated air fryer basket.
- Air fry for 10-15 minutes, or until the treats are firm to the touch and lightly golden brown on the edges. The exact timing will depend on your air fryer model and the size of your treats.
- Remove the treats from the air fryer and let them cool completely on a wire rack before serving them to your dog.
