Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour (or Whole Wheat Flour) Provides the base structure for our treats and offers carbohydrates for energy.
  • 1 cup All-Natural Peanut Butter (xylitol-free) The star of the show, offering healthy fats, protein, and a taste your dog will adore. Essential to ensure no xylitol is present, as it is toxic to dogs.
  • 1/2 cup Water Helps bind the ingredients together to create a workable dough.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey (optional) Adds a touch of natural sweetness and can offer mild antibacterial properties.
  • 1 Egg Acts as a binder, helping to hold the treats together and providing protein and essential nutrients.

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Large Bowl
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix the all-natural peanut butter, water, and egg (if using honey, add it here as well) until smooth and well combined.
1 cup All-Natural Peanut Butter (xylitol-free), 1/2 cup Water, 1 Egg, 1 tablespoon Honey (optional)
  3. Gradually add the flour to the wet mixture, stirring until a stiff dough forms. You may need to use your hands to knead it together if it’s too crumbly.
2 cups All-Purpose Flour (or Whole Wheat Flour)
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use your favorite dog-bone cookie cutters or a knife to cut out the shapes.
  5. Place the cut-out treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the treats are firm.
  6. Allow the treats to cool completely on a wire rack before serving to your happy pup.

Notes

Store your cooled all natural peanut butter dog treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, they can be frozen for up to 3 months. Ensure they are completely cooled before sealing them away to prevent moisture build-up. To reheat gently, a few seconds in a warm oven or microwave is sufficient for a delightful, fresh flavor. For frozen treats, thaw them naturally at room temperature or in the refrigerator before serving.
