Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix together the whole wheat flour and rolled oats. Ensure they are well combined.1 ½ cups Whole Wheat Flour, ½ cup Rolled Oats
- Stir in the unsweetened applesauce, finely chopped fresh cranberries, and the egg into the dry ingredients.½ cup Unsweetened Applesauce, ¼ cup Fresh Cranberries
- Gradually add the water, mixing until a stiff dough forms. You may need slightly more or less water depending on the humidity.2 Tablespoons Water
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to about ¼ inch thickness. Cut the dough into thin strips, approximately ½ inch wide and 4-6 inches long, to mimic dental stick shapes. You can also use cookie cutters for fun shapes!
- Place the shaped sticks onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them.
- Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the sticks are firm and lightly golden brown. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your sticks.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the dental sticks cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing. This ensures they are fully hardened and safe for your dog.
Notes
