  • ½ cup Rolled Oats Use as is
  • ½ cup Unsweetened Applesauce Use as is
  • ¼ cup Fresh Cranberries Finely chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Water Use as is

Equipment

  • Medium Bowl
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium bowl, thoroughly mix together the whole wheat flour and rolled oats. Ensure they are well combined.
1 ½ cups Whole Wheat Flour, ½ cup Rolled Oats
  3. Stir in the unsweetened applesauce, finely chopped fresh cranberries, and the egg into the dry ingredients.
½ cup Unsweetened Applesauce, ¼ cup Fresh Cranberries
  4. Gradually add the water, mixing until a stiff dough forms. You may need slightly more or less water depending on the humidity.
    2 Tablespoons Water
  5. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it out to about ¼ inch thickness. Cut the dough into thin strips, approximately ½ inch wide and 4-6 inches long, to mimic dental stick shapes. You can also use cookie cutters for fun shapes!
  6. Place the shaped sticks onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them.
  7. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the sticks are firm and lightly golden brown. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your sticks.
  8. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the dental sticks cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing. This ensures they are fully hardened and safe for your dog.

Notes
