Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats (Uncooked) Provides complex carbohydrates for sustained energy and dietary fiber for healthy digestion.
  • 1/2 cup Natural, Unsweetened Peanut Butter A great source of protein and healthy fats, adding irresistible flavor and energy. Ensure it does NOT contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce Adds natural sweetness, moisture, and a source of vitamins and fiber.
  • 1/4 cup Shredded Carrots (Raw) Offers beta-carotene for eye health and additional fiber.
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Flaxseed Rich in omega-3 fatty acids for a healthy skin and coat, and contributes to digestive health.
  • 1 tablespoon Water or more, as needed; Helps bind the ingredients together to form the correct consistency.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or hands
  • Plate or baking sheet
  • - Parchment Paper

Method

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the rolled oats and ground flaxseed. Stir well to ensure they are evenly distributed.
1 cup Rolled Oats (Uncooked), 1 tablespoon Ground Flaxseed
  2. Add the natural, unsweetened peanut butter and unsweetened applesauce to the bowl with the dry ingredients.
1/2 cup Natural, Unsweetened Peanut Butter, 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  3. Stir and mash all the ingredients together using a sturdy spoon or your hands. Continue mixing until a thick, cohesive dough forms. If the mixture seems too dry and crumbly, add the water, one tablespoon at a time, until it holds together well when pressed.
    1 tablespoon Water
  4. Gently fold in the shredded carrots. You want them distributed throughout the mixture.
    1/4 cup Shredded Carrots (Raw)
  5. Take small portions of the dough, about one tablespoon each, and roll them between your palms to form bite-sized balls. Aim for a consistent size so your dog’s treats are uniform.
  6. Place the formed power balls on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up.
