Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsweetened Applesauce Mashed apples provide natural sweetness and are a good source of fiber and vitamins like Vitamin C.
  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour or Oat Flour for sensitive tummies. Provides carbohydrates for energy and acts as a binder for the treats.
  • 1/4 cup Rolled Oats Adds texture and extra fiber, promoting good digestion.
  • 1 large Egg Acts as a binder and provides protein for muscle development and overall health.
  • 1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon A warming spice that's safe for dogs and can offer anti-inflammatory benefits.

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the unsweetened applesauce and the egg until well combined.
1 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 large Egg
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) and rolled oats to the wet ingredients. Stir until a thick dough forms.
1 cup Whole Wheat Flour, 1/4 cup Rolled Oats
  4. Stir in the ground cinnamon until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
    1 tablespoon Ground Cinnamon
  5. Drop rounded teaspoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each treat. You can gently flatten them with the back of a spoon if desired.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the treats are firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the treats cool completely on the baking sheet before serving or storing. This is crucial for texture and preventing any sogginess.

Notes

Always consult with your veterinarian before introducing new foods to your dog, especially if they have allergies, sensitivities, or health conditions.
