Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Add the natural peanut butter and unsweetened applesauce. Stir until well combined and creamy.2 Ripe Bananas, 1 Cup Natural Peanut Butter, 1/4 Cup Unsweetened Applesauce
- Gradually add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) and rolled oats to the wet mixture. Stir until a thick dough forms. It should be firm enough to handle but still slightly sticky.2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour, 1/2 Cup Rolled Oats
- Lightly flour a clean surface and your hands. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into ropes, about 1/2 inch in diameter and 4-6 inches long. You can then twist these ropes or flatten them slightly to create "chew sticks."
- Place the shaped chew sticks onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the sticks are firm to the touch.
- Once baked, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Let the banana peanut butter chew sticks for dogs cool completely on the baking sheet before handling, as they will harden as they cool.
Notes
