Method
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the rolled oats, vanilla protein powder, and unsweetened cocoa powder. Stir these dry ingredients together until they are well mixed. This ensures even distribution of flavor and texture throughout your protein balls.1 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup vanilla protein powder, 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- Add the finely crushed Oreos to the dry ingredients. This is where the magic starts! Aim for about 4-5 cookies crushed into fine crumbs. You can use a food processor or place the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin. Set aside a tablespoon or two of crushed Oreos for later if you wish to roll the finished balls in them.2 tablespoons finely crushed Oreos
- Add the natural peanut butter (or your preferred nut butter), honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Start with 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup, and you can always add more later if you prefer a sweeter taste.1/4 cup natural peanut butter, 2-3 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pour in 1/4 cup of unsweetened almond milk (or your milk of choice). Begin mixing everything together. The mixture will likely be crumbly at first.1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
- Continue to mix until a cohesive dough forms. If the dough seems too dry and isn't holding together, gradually add more almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach a moldable consistency. The dough should be firm enough to roll into balls but not sticky. Add the pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, pinch salt
- Once your dough is ready, it’s time to form the protein balls. Take about a tablespoon of the mixture and roll it between your palms to form a compact ball. Repeat this process with the entire batch of dough.
- If you reserved some crushed Oreos, you can now roll each protein ball in them for an extra layer of Oreo flavor and texture. This step is entirely optional but highly recommended for those who want the full Oreo experience!2 tablespoons finely crushed Oreos
- Place the rolled protein balls on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Transfer them to the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This chilling period allows the balls to firm up and meld their flavors, making them easier to handle and enjoy.
Notes
