Method
- In a medium bowl, gently combine the ground beef, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into two large patties or four smaller sliders. Avoid overmixing, as this can result in tough burgers.1 lb ground beef, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the burger patties and cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer for your desired doneness. If using chopped onion, you can add it to the skillet during the last few minutes of cooking the burgers, allowing it to sauté and caramelize slightly. Remove the burgers from the skillet and set aside to rest.1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 lb ground beef, 1/4 cup chopped yellow onion
- While the burgers are cooking or resting, whisk together all the Special Sauce ingredients in a small bowl until well combined and smooth. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed.1/4 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon ketchup, 1 teaspoon yellow mustard, 1 teaspoon sweet pickle relish, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/8 teaspoon smoked paprika
- In two serving bowls, create a base layer with the chopped romaine lettuce. Top the lettuce with the halved cherry tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, and chopped dill pickle slices.2 cups chopped romaine lettuce, 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved, 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1/4 cup dill pickle slices, chopped
- Slice or crumble the rested burger patties and arrange them over the prepared toppings in each bowl. Drizzle generously with the Special Sauce. Serve immediately and enjoy your deconstructed burger experience.
Notes
To store leftover Burger Bowls, it’s best to keep the components separate to maintain their optimal texture. Refrigerate the cooked burger patties, chopped vegetables, cheese, and pickles in airtight containers for up to 3-4 days. Store the Special Sauce separately in a well-sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
To reheat and enjoy, gently warm the burger patties in a skillet over medium heat or in the microwave. Assemble your bowl again with fresh lettuce and other desired toppings. You can also freeze cooked burger patties for longer-term storage, up to 2-3 months, thawing them in the refrigerator overnight before reheating. The Special Sauce can also be frozen in an ice cube tray for future use, though it may slightly alter its texture.
