Ingredients

For the Tea Base
  • 2 cups Water
  • 3 bags Earl Grey Tea High quality recommended
  • 1/4 cup Dried Cherries Or frozen, thawed
For Sweetening and Creaminess
  • 1/4 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk Adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated Sugar Optional, depending on condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup Milk Whole milk or oat milk works well
For Serving
  • 1 cup Ice Cubes

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water and dried cherries. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Once simmering, remove the pan from the heat. Add the Earl Grey tea bags and steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on desired strength. Do not over-steep to avoid bitterness.
  3. Remove and discard the tea bags. Return the liquid (tea and cherries) briefly to low heat. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and optional granulated sugar until fully dissolved.
  4. Allow the cherry tea base to cool slightly, then strain out the cooked cherries if you prefer a smoother texture, or leave them in for garnish. Mix in the half cup of regular milk.
  5. Fill two tall glasses generously with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the cooled Cherry Earl Grey mixture evenly over the ice. Stir gently to chill the drink rapidly. Serve immediately.

Notes

For an authentic bubble tea experience, you can substitute the ice with cooked and cooled tapioca pearls (boba) before adding the liquid.
