Ingredients

Aromatic Tea Base
  • 3 Earl Grey tea bags Use high-quality loose leaf tea equivalent
  • 2 cups Water Filtered water recommended
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup Frozen or fresh dark sweet cherries Pitted
Sweetener & Garnish (Optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Maple syrup or honey Adjust to taste
  • 2 Lemon slices For garnish

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water and the pitted cherries. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, gently mashing the cherries occasionally to release their flavor into the water.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the Earl Grey tea bags to the hot cherry water, cover the saucepan, and let it steep for 4-5 minutes. Do not over-steep the tea.
  4. Carefully strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring cup or directly into serving mugs, ensuring all tea leaves/bags and cherry solids are removed. Gently press on the solids to extract all liquid.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract and the sweetener (maple syrup or honey) until dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
  6. Pour the tea into two mugs. Garnish each serving with a thin slice of lemon, if desired, and serve immediately while hot.

Notes

For an iced version, steep the tea double strength and pour over ice after cooling to room temperature. For added creaminess, stir in a splash of almond or oat milk before serving.
