Ingredients

  • 4 cups Low-Sodium Chicken Broth Ensure it's seasoned with no onion or garlic.
  • 1 cup Rolled Oats Unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour or Gluten-Free Oat Flour for sensitivity
  • 2 tablespoons Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tablespoon Chia Seeds

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Medium Bowl
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the low-sodium chicken broth, nutritional yeast, and chia seeds until well combined. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes to allow the chia seeds to begin to gel.
4 cups Low-Sodium Chicken Broth, 2 tablespoons Nutritional Yeast, 1 tablespoon Chia Seeds
  3. Gradually add the rolled oats and whole wheat flour (or oat flour) to the wet ingredients. Stir until a thick, pourable batter forms. It should be similar in consistency to thick pancake batter.
1 cup Rolled Oats, 1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour
  4. Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet. You can spread it out thinly with a spatula to create crispy treats, or leave it a little thicker for chewier results.
  5. Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is firm to the touch. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your treats.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled, you can break them into smaller, bite-sized pieces for your dog.
