  • 1 ripe avocado thinly sliced or mashed
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped (for garnish)
  • Pinch red pepper flakes optional, for extra heat

  • A squeeze fresh lemon or lime juice for the avocado (optional)

  1. Place your bread slices into a toaster and toast them to your desired level of golden brown and crispiness. Aim for a sturdy toast that can hold up to the toppings without becoming soggy.

  2. While the bread is toasting, spread a generous layer of full-fat cottage cheese evenly over each toasted slice. You can season the cottage cheese with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper at this stage if you like.

  3. Arrange the thinly sliced avocado pieces over the cottage cheese-covered toast. Alternatively, if you prefer a creamier topping, you can mash the avocado with a fork and spread it on top of the cottage cheese.
