- In a small saucepan, combine the water (or milk) and salt (if using).
- Bring the liquid to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
- Gradually whisk in the Cream of Rice cereal. Continue whisking constantly to prevent lumps and ensure smooth cooking.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes (or according to package directions for your specific variety) until the cereal has thickened to your desired consistency.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand for 1 minute. Spoon the warm Cream of Rice into a serving bowl.
- Top the hot cereal evenly with a dollop of Greek yogurt. Arrange the mixed berries artistically over the yogurt.
- Drizzle with maple syrup or honey and sprinkle with chopped nuts or seeds before serving immediately.
Notes
For an added layer of flavor, stir a dash of vanilla extract into the cooked Cream of Rice before topping. If you prefer a colder dish, use cold milk to cook the cereal and stir in the yogurt immediately after cooking.
