Ingredients

Cream of Rice Base
  • 1/3 cup Cream of Rice Cereal Instant or regular
  • 1 1/3 cups Water Or milk for richer texture
  • 1/4 tsp Salt Optional
Toppings
  • 1/2 cup Plain Greek Yogurt Full fat or 2%
  • 1/2 cup Mixed Berries Strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries
  • 1 tsp Maple Syrup or Honey For sweetening
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Nuts or Seeds Almonds, walnuts, or chia seeds

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water (or milk) and salt (if using).
  2. Bring the liquid to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Gradually whisk in the Cream of Rice cereal. Continue whisking constantly to prevent lumps and ensure smooth cooking.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes (or according to package directions for your specific variety) until the cereal has thickened to your desired consistency.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand for 1 minute. Spoon the warm Cream of Rice into a serving bowl.
  6. Top the hot cereal evenly with a dollop of Greek yogurt. Arrange the mixed berries artistically over the yogurt.
  7. Drizzle with maple syrup or honey and sprinkle with chopped nuts or seeds before serving immediately.

Notes

For an added layer of flavor, stir a dash of vanilla extract into the cooked Cream of Rice before topping. If you prefer a colder dish, use cold milk to cook the cereal and stir in the yogurt immediately after cooking.
