Ingredients

  • 2 (10 ounce) cans cooked chicken breast drained and shredded
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup buffalo wing sauce classic Franks RedHot is a popular choice
  • ½ cup ranch dressing Or blue cheese dressing, depending on your preference.
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese Divided, with some reserved for topping.
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions For garnish and a hint of fresh flavor (optional but recommended).

Equipment

  • 8x8-inch baking dish
  • 9-inch pie plate
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Rubber spatula
  • Hand mixer (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking dish or a 9-inch pie plate. This prevents sticking and makes cleanup easier.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, and ranch dressing. Use a rubber spatula or a hand mixer to blend these ingredients until smooth and well incorporated. Ensure there are no lumps of cream cheese for a consistently creamy dip.
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, ½ cup buffalo wing sauce, ½ cup ranch dressing
  3. Stir in the shredded cooked chicken, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, and all of the mozzarella cheese into the creamy mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed and the chicken is thoroughly coated.
2 (10 ounce) cans cooked chicken breast, 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  4. Spoon the buffalo chicken dip mixture into your prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the dip. This will create a beautiful golden-brown crust when baked.
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the dip is bubbly around the edges and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden. For an extra browned and bubbly top, you can broil for 1-2 minutes at the end, but watch carefully to prevent burning.
  7. Once out of the oven, let the dip rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions, if desired. Serve hot with your favorite dippers!

Notes

This dip can be assembled a day in advance (without baking) and stored in the refrigerator. Just add the final layer of cheese before baking. Serve hot with your favorite dippers!
