Ingredients

Dip Base
  • 16 oz sour cream Full-fat recommended for best texture
  • 8 oz cream cheese Softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 packet dry ranch seasoning mix Standard 1 oz packet
Flavor Enhancements
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh chives Finely chopped, divided
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley Chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper Or to taste

Method

Instructions
  1. Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened to room temperature. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and the sour cream.
  2. Using an electric hand mixer or a sturdy whisk, beat the cream cheese and sour cream together until the mixture is completely smooth and free of lumps. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  3. Add the dry ranch seasoning mix, buttermilk, minced garlic, chopped parsley, onion powder, and black pepper to the mixture.
  4. Mix thoroughly on low speed until all ingredients are just combined. Do not overmix once the dry ingredients are incorporated. Stir in half of the fresh chives by hand.
  5. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or preferably overnight). Chilling allows the flavors to meld and the dip to firm up optimally.
  6. Before serving, transfer the dip to a decorative serving bowl. Garnish the top with the remaining fresh chives and serve chilled with chips, pretzels, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

For an extra bright flavor, add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. This dip is best served chilled and should not be left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
