Method

  1. Prepare your coffee or espresso according to your usual method. If you prefer an iced coffee, allow it to cool completely or brew it strong and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. For a hot version, ensure it's piping hot.
1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso
  2. If you’re making a hot Creamy Salted Caramel Coffee, gently warm the heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat. Do not boil it; you just want to warm it slightly to help the caramel dissolve better.
    1/4 cup heavy cream
  3. In a mug (for hot) or a shaker (for iced), add the brewed coffee. Stir in the caramel sauce and begin to whisk or stir to incorporate it into the coffee.
1 cup strong brewed coffee or espresso, 2 tablespoons caramel sauce
  4. Pour in the heavy cream. If you’re using sugar or another sweetener, add it now and stir until fully dissolved.
1/4 cup heavy cream, 1-2 teaspoons granulated sugar or sweetener
  5. Add the sea salt flakes. Start with 1 teaspoon and taste. Add more gradually if you prefer a more pronounced salty kick. The salt truly elevates the caramel flavor by balancing the sweetness.
    1 teaspoon sea salt flakes
  6. For a hot coffee, stir vigorously to combine all ingredients. For an iced coffee, add a handful of ice cubes to your shaker, along with the coffee mixture. Secure the lid and shake well for about 15-20 seconds until the mixture is well-chilled and slightly frothy. If you don't have a shaker, you can stir the iced version vigorously in a tall glass. A milk frother can also be used at this stage to create a lovely foam for either version.
