Ingredients

Tea Base
  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 bags Black Tea (Assam or English Breakfast)
  • 1 cinnamon stick Cinnamon Stick Or 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 Vanilla Extract Pure extract preferred
Milk & Sweetener
  • 1 cup Milk (Whole or Oat) Adjust to desired creaminess
  • 2-4 tablespoons Sweetener (Honey or Maple Syrup) Adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (Optional) For extra warmth

Method

Instructions
  1. Bring 2 cups of water and the cinnamon stick to a rolling boil in a small saucepan.
  2. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat, add the two black tea bags, and let it steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on desired strength.
  3. Remove and discard the tea bags and the cinnamon stick. Stir in the vanilla extract and the sweetener (honey or maple syrup).
  4. Return the saucepan to low heat. Slowly whisk in the milk. Heat gently until steaming hot, but do not allow it to boil.
  5. Taste the tea and adjust the sweetener if necessary. If using, sprinkle a tiny pinch of ground nutmeg over the top of each serving.
  6. Pour immediately into mugs and enjoy while warm.

Notes

For an iced version, brew the tea base double strength, cool completely, and mix with cold milk and sweetener over ice. For a richer flavor, use condensed milk instead of regular milk.
