Method
- Gently warm 2 cups of plain bone broth in a saucepan over low heat. Do not boil; you want it warm enough to dissolve the gelatin, like a warm bath.2 cups high-quality, plain bone broth for dogs
- While the broth is warming, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of unflavored gelatin powder over 1/4 cup of cool water in a separate bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes to "bloom" – it will thicken into a jelly-like consistency.2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder, 1/4 cup cool water
- Remove the warmed bone broth from the heat. Add the bloomed gelatin to the warm broth and stir until it is completely dissolved and smooth, with no clumps remaining.2 cups high-quality, plain bone broth for dogs, 2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin powder
- Stir in the 1/4 cup of pureed pumpkin, 1 tablespoon of pureed sweet potato, and 1/4 cup of dog-safe fruit puree. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined and the mixture is a uniform color.1/4 cup pureed pumpkin, 1 tablespoon pureed sweet potato, 1/4 cup dog-safe fruit puree
- Pour the liquid mixture into silicone molds. You can use ice cube trays, fun-shaped dog treat molds, or even small individual ramekins.
- Carefully transfer the filled molds to the refrigerator. Allow them to chill and set completely, which typically takes about 2–4 hours. They should have a firm, gummy texture.
- Once firm, gently pop the gummies out of the molds. You can offer them immediately as a healthy treat.
