Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1/4 cup Natural Peanut Butter (xylitol-free) Crucially, ensure it is xylitol-free as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
  • 1/4 cup Water Essential for binding the ingredients and creating the right consistency for baking.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon Adds a warm, appealing flavor and contains antioxidants that may offer anti-inflammatory benefits.

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat
  • Medium Mixing Bowl
  • Spoon or spatula

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, unsweetened applesauce, xylitol-free natural peanut butter, water, and ground cinnamon.
1 cup Rolled Oats, 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1/4 cup Natural Peanut Butter (xylitol-free), 1/4 cup Water, 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  3. Stir all the ingredients together with a spoon or spatula until a thick, sticky dough forms. Ensure everything is well incorporated.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart. You can gently flatten them slightly if you prefer thinner treats.
  5. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch. They should feel fully cooked through. For a crispier treat, you can turn off the oven after baking and leave the treats inside to cool completely.
  6. Allow the treats to cool completely on the baking sheet before offering them to your dog. This will help them firm up and become easier to handle.
