Ingredients

  • 4 Lobster Tails 4-5 ounces each, firm and vibrantly colored, fresh or fully thawed if frozen
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter Melted
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced very finely
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice Squeezed from half a lemon
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley Chopped finely, for garnish
  • 1/4 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • Pinch Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • Salt To taste
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper To taste

Equipment

  • Kitchen Shears
  • - Baking Sheet
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl
  • Instant-Read Thermometer (optional)

Method

  1. 1. Prepare the Lobster Tails: Start by thawing your lobster tails if they are frozen. Using kitchen shears, cut a line down the center of the top shell, from the thickest part almost to the tail fin, but do not cut through the bottom shell or the meat. Gently open the shell and loosen the meat from the shell (leaving it attached at the fin). Carefully lift the meat out and rest it on top of the shell. You can also butterfly the tails by making a deep cut into the meat (but not all the way through) and gently spreading it open like a book. Pat the lobster meat dry with paper towels. This helps ensure better seasoning and a more even cook.

  2. 2. Preheat the Broiler: Position an oven rack about 6-8 inches from the heating element. Preheat your broiler to high. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easier cleanup.
  3. 3. Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce: In a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using). Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Stir well to combine all the flavors.
1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, 2 cloves Garlic, 1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice, 1/4 teaspoon Smoked Paprika, Pinch Cayenne Pepper, Salt, Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  4. 4. Brush the Lobster Tails: Arrange the prepared lobster tails on the foil-lined baking sheet. Generously brush half of the garlic butter mixture over the exposed lobster meat. Ensure the meat is thoroughly coated, as this butter will keep it moist and infuse it with incredible flavor.

  5. 5. Broil the Lobster: Place the baking sheet under the preheated broiler. Broil for 6-10 minutes, depending on the size of your lobster tails. The cooking time will vary; smaller tails (4-5 oz) might take 6-8 minutes, while larger ones (6-8 oz) could take 8-10 minutes. The lobster meat should turn opaque and white, and the shells will become bright red. Be careful not to overcook, as this can make the lobster tough and chewy. Use an instant-read thermometer to check for doneness; the internal temperature should reach 140°F (60°C).

  6. 6. Finish and Serve: Once cooked, remove the lobster tails from the oven. Drizzle the remaining garlic butter sauce over the cooked lobster meat. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve immediately with extra lemon wedges on the side for squeezing. This Easy Broiled Lobster Tail Recipe is fantastic on its own or alongside your favorite sides like roasted asparagus, mashed potatoes, or a fresh garden salad.
