Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Plain, Unsweetened Greek Yogurt Mashed or blended until smooth.
  • 1 Tablespoon Peanut Butter (xylitol-free and unsalted) Mashed or stirred until smooth. Ensure it is xylitol-free, as this artificial sweetener is toxic to dogs.
  • 1/4 cup Cooked, Mashed Sweet Potato Cooked until tender and then mashed well.
  • 1 Teaspoon Honey optional, for added sweetness and benefits. Stirred well.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon optional, for flavor and potential anti-inflammatory benefits. Stirred into the mixture.
  • tiny splash water to adjust consistency if too thick.
  • little more mashed sweet potato to adjust consistency if too thin.

Equipment

  • Medium Bowl
  • Whisk or mixer
  • Airtight container
  • Ice cube trays

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt and the xylitol-free peanut butter. Stir vigorously until the mixture is smooth and well-blended.
1/2 cup Plain, Unsweetened Greek Yogurt, 1 Tablespoon Peanut Butter (xylitol-free and unsalted)
  2. Add the thoroughly mashed sweet potato to the bowl with the yogurt and peanut butter mixture. Mix until all ingredients are fully incorporated and you have a uniform, creamy consistency.
1/4 cup Cooked, Mashed Sweet Potato
  3. If using, stir in the honey and ground cinnamon until evenly distributed throughout the icing. This step is purely for an extra touch of flavor and potential added benefits.
1 Teaspoon Honey, 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  4. Continue to whisk or mix until the icing reaches a smooth, spreadable consistency, similar to human frosting. If it's too thick, you can add a tiny splash of water or plain yogurt. If it's too thin, you can add a little more mashed sweet potato.
tiny splash water, little more mashed sweet potato
  5. For the perfect consistency and to allow the flavors to meld, cover the bowl and refrigerate the Easy Dog Icing for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Store any leftover icing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, portion the icing into small, freezer-safe containers or ice cube trays and freeze for up to 2 months.
