- In a medium bowl, thoroughly mash the cooked sweet potato until smooth. Add the shredded chicken, mashed carrots, plain yogurt, and pumpkin puree to the bowl. Mix everything together until well combined.½ cup cooked sweet potato, mashed (plain, unseasoned), 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken breast (plain, unseasoned), ¼ cup cooked, chopped carrots (plain, unseasoned), 1 tablespoon unsweetened plain yogurt (probiotic-rich), 1 teaspoon pure pumpkin puree (not pie filling)
- Gradually add the coconut flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until a thick, cohesive dough forms. You may need to add a tiny bit more coconut flour if the mixture is too sticky to handle, or a splash of water if it's too dry.1 tablespoon coconut flour
- Lightly flour your hands with a little extra coconut flour or plain flour. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into log shapes, similar to the thickness of a pencil or slightly thicker, about 3-4 inches long.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the shaped chew sticks onto the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they have a little space between them.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chew sticks are firm to the touch and dry on the outside. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your sticks. They should be firm enough to hold their shape but still have a slight chewiness.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Let the Easy Homemade Dog Chew Sticks cool completely on the baking sheet before serving them to your dog or storing them.
