Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cooked Chicken Breast, shredded Ensure it's plain, boiled or baked without any seasonings.
  • 1/2 cup Cooked Sweet Potato, mashed Make sure it's plain boiled or baked, free from added sugars or spices.
  • 1/4 cup Cooked Oatmeal, plain and unsweetened Ensure it's cooked with water only.
  • 1 Large Egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Unsweetened Applesauce Make sure it contains no xylitol.

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, thoroughly mash the cooked sweet potato until smooth. Stir in the lightly beaten egg and the unsweetened applesauce until well combined.
1/2 cup Cooked Sweet Potato, mashed, 1 Large Egg, lightly beaten, 1 tablespoon Unsweetened Applesauce
  3. Add the shredded cooked chicken breast and the cooked, plain oatmeal to the bowl. Mix everything together until a cohesive, somewhat sticky dough forms.
1 cup Cooked Chicken Breast, shredded, 1/4 cup Cooked Oatmeal, plain and unsweetened
  4. Using your hands or a spoon, drop small portions of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet. You can either flatten them slightly into small patties or roll them into small balls. Aim for a size appropriate for your dog.
  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch. The texture should be slightly chewy, not hard and crumbly.
  6. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the treats to cool completely on the sheet before serving or storing. This ensures they hold their shape properly.

Notes

Store cooled treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 2-3 months. Thaw overnight if frozen.
