Ingredients

  • 1 cup Pumpkin Puree (100% pure, not pie filling) Mashed
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce Mashed
  • 2 cups Whole Wheat Flour or oat flour for gluten-sensitive dogs
  • 1 Egg Unprepared

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • Mixing bowl
  • - Baking Sheet
  • Wire rack
  • Rolling Pin Optional, for rolling dough
  • Cookie cutters Dog-shaped or standard

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly mix together the pumpkin puree, unsweetened applesauce, and egg until well combined.
1 cup Pumpkin Puree (100% pure, not pie filling), 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 Egg
  3. Slowly add the whole wheat flour (or oat flour) to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. You might not need all the flour, or you may need a little more depending on humidity.
    2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it's cohesive. Roll the dough out to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  5. Use dog-shaped cookie cutters (or a knife) to cut out your treats.
  6. Place the cut treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch.
  7. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing.
