Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a gentle boil (just before a rolling boil, about 175°F or 80°C) to prevent bitterness in the green tea.
- Remove the water from the heat, add the 4 green tea bags, and let steep for exactly 3 to 5 minutes. Do not over-steep.
- Remove the tea bags promptly and stir in the honey or maple syrup until fully dissolved. Allow the concentrated tea mixture to cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
- Pour the slightly cooled tea concentrate into a large pitcher. Stir in the 1/2 cup of apple juice.
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until completely cold. Alternatively, fill serving glasses with ice immediately.
- To serve, fill four glasses with ice cubes. Pour the chilled iced apple green tea evenly among the glasses. Garnish each glass with thin slices of fresh apple.
Notes
For a brighter flavor, use green apple juice. If using concentrated apple cider instead of juice, reduce sweetener significantly. This recipe can easily be doubled for larger batches.
