- Brew your favorite coffee and let it cool down to room temperature. This prevents the protein powder from clumping and ensures a smooth texture. You can brew it ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for even quicker assembly.1 cup brewed coffee
- Add the cooled coffee to your blender. Then, add your scoop of protein powder. If you're opting for the mocha version, now is the time to add the unsweetened cocoa powder. Follow with the almond milk and vanilla extract, if using.1 cup brewed coffee, 1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Toss in your ice cubes. If you prefer your coffee drink a little sweeter, add your preferred sweetener to the blender at this stage. Start with a small amount, as you can always add more.4-5 ice cubes ice cubes, sweetener to taste
- Secure the lid on your blender and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. You should see no lumps of protein powder and the texture should be consistent. This usually takes about 30-60 seconds, depending on your blender's power.
- Carefully taste your protein coffee drink. If it's not sweet enough, add a touch more sweetener and blend again for a few seconds. Notes
Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake or whisk before drinking. Can also be frozen into ice cubes for smoothies.
