Ingredients

  • 1 cup canned pumpkin puree (plain, NOT pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup dog-safe, whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-sensitive dogs)
  • 1 large egg egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened applesauce (optional, for added moisture and sweetness)

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of canned pumpkin puree, 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour (or oat flour), 1 large egg, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of unsweetened applesauce (if using).
1 cup canned pumpkin puree (plain, NOT pie filling), 1/2 cup dog-safe, whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-sensitive dogs), 1 large egg egg, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon unsweetened applesauce
  3. Stir all ingredients together until a thick dough forms. It should be sticky but manageable. If it’s too wet, add a tablespoon more flour at a time; if too dry, add a teaspoon of water or applesauce.
  4. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, about 1-2 inches apart. You can flatten them slightly with the back of the spoon if you prefer thinner, crispier treats.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch.
  6. Allow the treats to cool completely on the baking sheet before offering them to your dog.
