Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of canned pumpkin puree, 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour (or oat flour), 1 large egg, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of unsweetened applesauce (if using).1 cup canned pumpkin puree (plain, NOT pie filling), 1/2 cup dog-safe, whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-sensitive dogs), 1 large egg egg, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon unsweetened applesauce
- Stir all ingredients together until a thick dough forms. It should be sticky but manageable. If it’s too wet, add a tablespoon more flour at a time; if too dry, add a teaspoon of water or applesauce.
- Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, about 1-2 inches apart. You can flatten them slightly with the back of the spoon if you prefer thinner, crispier treats.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and the treats are firm to the touch.
- Allow the treats to cool completely on the baking sheet before offering them to your dog.
