Ingredients

Crisps Ingredients
  • 1 cup Rolled Oats High in fiber, promoting healthy digestion and a feeling of fullness.
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce A source of natural sweetness and moisture, providing vitamins and fiber.
  • 1/4 cup Peanut Butter xylitol-free and unsalted. Offers protein for muscle development and healthy fats for energy and a shiny coat.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey A natural sweetener and source of antioxidants, providing a touch of energy.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Peppermint Extract food-grade. Can aid in freshening breath and offers a mild, calming aroma for some dogs. (Ensure it's 100% pure and diluted if using a stronger concentration).
  • 1/4 cup Dog-Safe White Chocolate Chips Some dog-safe white chocolate alternatives are made with carob or yogurt coatings. Ensure the ingredients are pure and avoid anything with xylitol. These provide a fun, treat-like appeal.

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the unsweetened applesauce, xylitol-free peanut butter, honey, and food-grade peppermint extract. Stir until well blended and smooth.
1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1/4 cup Peanut Butter, 1 tablespoon Honey, 1/2 teaspoon Peppermint Extract
  3. Gradually add the rolled oats to the wet mixture, stirring until a thick dough forms. If the dough seems too wet, add a tablespoon more oats at a time until it's manageable.
  4. Gently fold in the dog-safe white chocolate chips. Be sure they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
1/4 cup Dog-Safe White Chocolate Chips
  5. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet. You can gently flatten them with the back of your spoon or your fingers to create thinner, crispier treats. Aim for about 1/4 inch thickness for optimal crispness.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the crisps are firm to the touch. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your crisps.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the crisps cool completely on the baking sheet before handling. This allows them to firm up and achieve their signature crisp texture.
