Course: Cocktail, Drink
Cuisine: Valentine's Day

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces Vodka (or Gin for a slightly more botanical note)
  • 1 ounce Raspberry Liqueur (like Chambord)
  • 0.5 ounce Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.5 ounce Cranberry Juice (unsweetened or lightly sweetened)
  • 2-3 Fresh Raspberries for muddling and garnish
  • 1 strip Orange Peel for garnish
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional Pink Sugar or Edible Glitter for rimming the glass
  • Optional Lime wedge for rimming the glass

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Muddler
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Martini glass or coupe glass
  • Shallow plate (for rimming)

Method

  1. If you're aiming for that extra festive touch, prepare your cocktail glass. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your martini or coupe glass. Then, gently dip the rim into a shallow plate of pink sugar or edible glitter, ensuring an even coating. Set the prepared glass aside.

  2. In the bottom of a cocktail shaker, add 2-3 fresh raspberries. Gently muddle them with a muddler or the back of a spoon. You want to break them down to release their juice and flavor, but avoid pulverizing them into a paste.
    2-3 Fresh Raspberries
  3. To the shaker with the muddled raspberries, add the vodka, raspberry liqueur, fresh lime juice, and cranberry juice.
1.5 ounces Vodka, 1 ounce Raspberry Liqueur, 0.5 ounce Fresh Lime Juice, 0.5 ounce Cranberry Juice
  4. Fill the cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice cubes. This is crucial for chilling and diluting the drink properly.

  5. Securely close the lid of the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. You should feel the outside of the shaker become frosty. This ensures the drink is well-chilled and all the ingredients are properly combined.
  6. Carefully strain the contents of the shaker through a fine-mesh strainer into your prepared cocktail glass. This will catch any small raspberry seeds or ice shards, ensuring a smooth drinking experience.
  7. Gently twist a strip of orange peel over the drink to release its fragrant oils, then drop it into the cocktail or drape it over the rim. You can also add a fresh raspberry or two as a final decorative touch. Serve immediately and enjoy your Festive Pink Valen-Tinis!
1 strip Orange Peel, 2-3 Fresh Raspberries
