  • 8 oz Fresh Mozzarella (Bocconcini or large ball) Drained and sliced or torn
  • 1 cup Fresh Basil Leaves Whole or roughly torn
  • 2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil For drizzling
Balsamic Vinaigrette
  • 3 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
  • 4 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil For vinaigrette
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1/4 tsp Sea Salt Or to taste
  • 1/8 tsp Black Pepper Freshly ground

Instructions
  1. Prepare the Balsamic Vinaigrette: In a small bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, 4 tablespoons of olive oil, dried oregano, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper until well combined and slightly emulsified.
  2. Arrange the tomatoes and mozzarella: On a large serving platter or individual plates, lovingly arrange alternating slices of tomato and fresh mozzarella.
  3. Intersperse with basil: Tuck the fresh basil leaves evenly throughout the arrangement of tomatoes and mozzarella.
  4. Dress the salad: Just before serving, drizzle the prepared balsamic vinaigrette evenly over the entire arrangement.
  5. Final seasoning: Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of high-quality extra virgin olive oil lightly over the top. You can add an extra sprinkle of salt and pepper now if desired.
  6. Serve immediately at room temperature for the best flavor profile.

Notes

This salad is best made right before serving to ensure the tomatoes retain their texture. For an extra kick, add a few thin slices of red onion. Using heirloom tomatoes will significantly enhance the overall flavor.
