Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats gluten-free if needed
  • 1/2 cup vanilla or unflavored protein powder whey, casein, or plant-based
  • 1/4 cup freeze-dried blueberries crushed into powder
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter or any nut/seed butter you prefer
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup adjust to taste
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice, plus more as needed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Wooden spoon
  • Plate
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper

Method

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, protein powder, crushed freeze-dried blueberries, chia seeds, and salt. Stir them together thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of all the dry components. This step is crucial for that signature fluffy texture and consistent flavor throughout your protein balls.
1 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup vanilla or unflavored protein powder, 1/4 cup freeze-dried blueberries, 2 tablespoons chia seeds, Pinch salt
  2. Next, add the almond butter, honey or maple syrup, almond milk, and vanilla extract to the bowl with the dry ingredients.
2 tablespoons almond butter, 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup, 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  3. Using a spatula or a wooden spoon, begin mixing the ingredients. Continue to stir and combine until a thick, cohesive dough forms. The mixture should start pulling away from the sides of the bowl.
  4. If the dough seems too dry and crumbly, add an additional teaspoon or two of almond milk, mixing after each addition, until it reaches a workable consistency that can be rolled into balls. Conversely, if it’s too wet, you can add a tablespoon more of oats or protein powder.
1 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup vanilla or unflavored protein powder, 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  5. Once the dough is well-combined and has the right consistency, begin rolling small portions of the mixture between your palms to form bite-sized balls, about 1-inch in diameter.
  6. Place the rolled Fluffy Blueberry Protein Balls onto a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Transfer them to the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow them to firm up and set properly. This chilling step is essential for creating that perfect, slightly firm, fluffy texture.
