- Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add flour, cornmeal, salt, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1–2 hours.
- Make the Sauce:
- Heat olive oil in a saucepan. Sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, pepper, and sugar. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Assemble the Pizza:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out the dough and press it into a greased deep-dish pan, going up the sides.
- Layer mozzarella cheese on the dough first.
- Add desired toppings like pepperoni and veggies.
- Pour the prepared tomato sauce over the top.
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese evenly.
- Bake and Serve:
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve hot!
