Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 4 floats
Course: Dessert

Ingredients

  • 6 cups chilled green apple soda (such as Sprite or any clear lemon-lime soda with green apple flavor added), divided
  • 1 ½ cups green apple sorbet or green apple ice cream or green apple ice cream
  • 1 large crisp green apple (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), thinly sliced
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Maraschino cherries (optional, for topping)
  • Fresh mint sprigs (optional, for garnish)

Equipment

  • Tall glasses

Method

  1. Gather four tall glasses (such as pint glasses or ice cream float glasses). Ensure they are clean and ready for assembly.
  2. Place two generous scoops of green apple sorbet or ice cream into the bottom of each prepared glass. If using ice cream, ensure it's slightly softened for easier scooping and a better melt.
1 ½ cups green apple sorbet or green apple ice cream
  3. Slowly and carefully pour about 1 to 1 ½ cups of chilled green apple soda over the ice cream in each glass. Pouring slowly will help create a wonderful foamy head without overflowing the glass. You want the soda to fizz up and mingle with the ice cream.

  4. Gently place a few thin slices of fresh green apple into each float. These add a lovely textural contrast and a burst of fresh apple flavor.
    1 large crisp green apple
  5. If desired, add a dollop of whipped cream on top of each float. Crown with a maraschino cherry and a fresh mint sprig for a beautiful presentation.

  6. The Green Apple Ice Cream Float is best enjoyed immediately while the ice cream is still frozen and the soda is icy cold and fizzy.

Notes

This Green Apple Ice Cream Float is best enjoyed fresh. However, if you have any leftover soda, it can be tightly re-sealed and refrigerated for up to 3-4 days. Any uneaten ice cream can be refrozen. While you cannot freeze a prepared ice cream float, you can prepare elements ahead of time for quicker assembly later. You can freeze individual scoops of green apple ice cream or sorbet in airtight containers for up to 1-2 months. Ensure the soda remains chilled. For optimal taste, it's always recommended to make the float just before serving.
