Ingredients

  • 2 cups Fresh Green Beans Washed and trimmed.
  • 1 cup Cooked Chicken (or Turkey) Breast Shredded or finely diced.
  • 1/2 cup Cooked Brown Rice Plain, unseasoned.
  • 1/4 cup Plain, Unsweetened Yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil Melted.

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper

Method

  1. Steam or lightly boil the trimmed green beans until they are tender but still have a slight crispness. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes. Drain them thoroughly.
    2 cups Fresh Green Beans
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked, shredded chicken (or turkey), cooked brown rice, plain yogurt, and melted coconut oil. Stir until everything is well incorporated.
1 cup Cooked Chicken (or Turkey) Breast, 1/2 cup Cooked Brown Rice, 1/4 cup Plain, Unsweetened Yogurt, 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
  3. Gently stir in the prepared green beans. You can leave them whole, chop them into smaller pieces, or even mash them slightly depending on your dog's preference and chewing ability.
    2 cups Fresh Green Beans
  4. Ensure all ingredients are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. You can form the mixture into small, bite-sized balls or patties, or spread it thinly onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Place the formed crunchies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 300°F (150°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until they are firm and slightly dried out. The exact time will depend on the thickness of your crunchies. For an even crisper texture, you can lower the oven temperature to 200°F (95°C) and bake for an additional hour or two, flipping them halfway through. Allow them to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Store cooled crunchies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze portions in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator or at room temperature for a few hours. Gently reheat in a warm oven for a few minutes if desired, but avoid overheating.
