  • 1 cup Grated Carrots
  • ½ cup Whole Wheat Flour
  • ¼ cup Rolled Oats (uncooked)
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil (melted)

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Large Bowl
  • Rolling Pin
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the grated apples, grated carrots, whole wheat flour, and rolled oats. Stir until well mixed.
1 cup Grated Apples (peeled and cored), 1 cup Grated Carrots, ½ cup Whole Wheat Flour, ¼ cup Rolled Oats (uncooked)
  3. Add the egg, unsweetened applesauce, and melted coconut oil to the bowl. Mix thoroughly until a stiff dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a tablespoon of whole wheat flour at a time.
1 Large Egg, 2 tablespoons Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil (melted), ½ cup Whole Wheat Flour
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thickness.
  5. Cut the dough into desired strip shapes. Aim for a size suitable for your dog’s chewing habits.
  6. Place the chew sticks onto the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden brown and the sticks feel firm to the touch. They should be dry but still have a slight chew.
  8. Allow the chew sticks to cool completely on a wire rack before serving them to your dog.
