Ingredients

  • 1 cup Rolled Oats Cooked until soft
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce Plain, natural applesauce is ideal
  • 1 large Egg Lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened Peanut Butter Smooth or crunchy, ensuring it DOES NOT contain Xylitol (which is toxic to dogs)
  • 1/4 cup Water To achieve the right consistency

Equipment

  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Wire rack
  • Medium Bowl

Method

  1. Cook 1 cup of rolled oats according to package directions until soft and fully cooked. Allow them to cool slightly.
    1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce, 1 lightly beaten large egg, and 1/4 cup of unsweetened peanut butter (ensure no Xylitol).
    1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  3. Add the cooled, cooked oats to the wet ingredients.
    1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  4. Gradually add 1/4 cup of water, mixing until you achieve a thick, dough-like consistency that can be easily shaped.
    1/2 cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Drop rounded tablespoons of the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each treat. Gently flatten each treat with the back of a spoon.
  6. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown and firm to the touch.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the treats cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Store cooled treats in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5–7 days. For longer storage, you can freeze portions in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to 2–3 months.
