Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lean Ground Pork (cooked and drained of excess fat)
  • 1/2 cup Rolled Oats (cooked and cooled)
  • 1/4 cup Pure Pumpkin Puree (unsweetened, 100% pumpkin)
  • 1 large Egg (lightly beaten)
  • 1 tablespoon Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • - Baking Sheet
  • Parchment paper or silicone baking mat

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the lean ground pork until it is fully browned and no pink remains. Drain off any excess fat thoroughly. Let it cool slightly.
    1 pound Lean Ground Pork
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled, cooked pork, cooked and cooled rolled oats, pure pumpkin puree, lightly beaten egg, and unsweetened applesauce.
1 pound Lean Ground Pork, 1/2 cup Rolled Oats, 1/4 cup Pure Pumpkin Puree, 1 large Egg, 1 tablespoon Unsweetened Applesauce
  4. Stir in the cinnamon until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
    1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
  5. Mix all ingredients together until well combined, forming a slightly sticky dough. Use your hands or a spoon to roll small portions of the dough into bite-sized balls or press them into small patties. If the dough is too sticky, you can lightly flour your hands with a tiny amount of oat flour.
  6. Place the formed treats onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the treats are firm to the touch and lightly golden brown around the edges. The exact time may vary slightly depending on the size and thickness of your treats.
  8. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool completely on the baking sheet before offering them to your dog or transferring them to an airtight container for storage. They will further firm up as they cool.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days. Can be frozen for longer storage.
