- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a medium bowl, mash the ripe banana until smooth. Stir in the unsweetened applesauce and xylitol-free peanut butter until well combined.1 ripe banana banana, 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce, 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- Gradually add the whole wheat flour and ground rolled oats to the wet mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.1 cup whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup rolled oats
- Fold in the grated carrot until evenly distributed throughout the dough.1 large carrot carrot
- Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter of your choice (bone-shaped is always a hit!) to cut out the treats. Alternatively, you can simply roll the dough into small balls and flatten them slightly.
- Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they have a little space between them. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This is crucial to prevent them from becoming soggy.
