Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour for extra fiber)
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened applesauce Cooked and mashed or puréed
  • 2 tablespoons Plain, unsweetened yogurt (probiotic-rich) Mashed or stirred
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley Finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Coconut oil Melted
  • 1/2 cup Pumpkin purée 100% pure, not pie filling. Steamed or canned and mashed.
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl
  • Wire rack

Method

  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the unsweetened applesauce, melted coconut oil, plain yogurt, egg, and pumpkin purée until well combined.
1/4 cup Unsweetened applesauce, 1 tablespoon Coconut oil, 2 tablespoons Plain, unsweetened yogurt (probiotic-rich), 1 Large egg, 1/2 cup Pumpkin purée
  3. Stir in the all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour), finely chopped fresh parsley, and cinnamon until a thick dough forms.
1 cup All-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour for extra fiber), 1 tablespoon Fresh parsley, 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
  4. Lightly flour your hands and roll small portions of the dough into bite-sized balls or flat discs. You can also press the dough into a lightly greased cookie sheet and cut into squares. Ensure they are not too thick so they bake evenly.
  5. Place the formed treats onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the treats are firm to the touch. For softer treats, bake for a shorter duration; for crunchier ones, extend the time slightly.
  6. Remove the treats from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack before offering them to your dog. This step is crucial for safety and to prevent any sogginess.
