Method
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and the beaten egg until well combined and smooth.½ cup Peanut Butter, ½ cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 large Egg
- Gradually add the whole wheat flour to the wet ingredients. Stir until a stiff dough forms. If the dough seems too dry and crumbly, add a tablespoon of water at a time, mixing until it comes together.1 cup All-Purpose Whole Wheat Flour, ¼ cup Water
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead a few times to bring it together. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a cookie cutter (we love bone shapes!) to cut out your treats. You can also simply roll small portions into balls and flatten them slightly.
- Place the cut-out treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the treats are firm to the touch.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Ensure they are thoroughly cooled before serving to your dog.
Notes
Ensure peanut butter is xylitol-free. Consult vet for specific dietary needs.
