Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Whole Wheat Flour
  • ½ cup Peanut Butter xylitol-free and unsalted
  • ½ cup Unsweetened Applesauce
  • 1 large Egg beaten
  • ¼ cup Water or as needed

Equipment

  • - Oven
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper
  • Medium Bowl
  • Wire rack
  • Cookie Cutter (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, unsweetened applesauce, and the beaten egg until well combined and smooth.
½ cup Peanut Butter, ½ cup Unsweetened Applesauce, 1 large Egg
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour to the wet ingredients. Stir until a stiff dough forms. If the dough seems too dry and crumbly, add a tablespoon of water at a time, mixing until it comes together.
1 cup All-Purpose Whole Wheat Flour, ¼ cup Water
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead a few times to bring it together. Roll the dough out to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Use a cookie cutter (we love bone shapes!) to cut out your treats. You can also simply roll small portions into balls and flatten them slightly.
  6. Place the cut-out treats onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the treats are firm to the touch.
  7. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the treats cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Ensure they are thoroughly cooled before serving to your dog.

Notes

Ensure peanut butter is xylitol-free. Consult vet for specific dietary needs.
