Method
- Ensure all your fresh cherries are pitted. You can do this with a cherry pitter or carefully by hand and then slicing them in half. This helps to release their juices and makes them easier to blend.1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved
- Squeeze the fresh limes to obtain 1/2 cup of lime juice. It's always best to use fresh citrus for the brightest flavor in your limeade.1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from about 3-4 limes)
- In a sturdy bowl or the bottom of a pitcher, combine the pitted and halved fresh cherries with the honey. Gently muddle them using a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon. The goal is to mash the cherries enough to release their juices and combine them with the honey, creating a sweet cherry base.1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved, 1/4 cup honey
- Add the fresh lime juice to the bowl or pitcher with the muddled cherries and honey. Stir everything together until the honey is well incorporated into the cherry and lime mixture.1/2 cup fresh lime juice (from about 3-4 limes), 1/4 cup honey
- Pour in the 2 cups of cold water. Stir vigorously to ensure all the honey and cherry juices are thoroughly mixed into the water. This is where your limeade starts to come to life!2 cups cold water
- For a smoother Honey Sweetened Fresh Cherry Limeade without any cherry bits, you can strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into another pitcher. Press down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. If you don't mind a bit of texture, this step can be skipped.
- Fill glasses generously with ice cubes. Pour the Honey Sweetened Fresh Cherry Limeade over the ice.ice cubes
- Add a splash of extra color and aroma by garnishing each glass with a fresh mint sprig, a lime slice, or a few whole fresh cherries. Enjoy immediately!fresh mint sprigs, lime slices, whole fresh cherries
Notes
