Ingredients

For the Honeydew Base
  • 4 cups honeydew melon cubed, seedless
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar or to taste
For the Lemonade
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice approx. 6-8 lemons
  • 3 cups cold water or sparkling water for fizz
  • Ice cubes ice cubes for serving

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare the simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the 1/4 cup of sugar with 1/2 cup of water. Heat gently over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Create the honeydew puree: Place the cubed honeydew melon into a blender. Add the slightly cooled simple syrup. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary.
  3. Strain the puree: Pour the honeydew mixture through a fine-mesh sieve set over a large pitcher. Use the back of a spoon to press out as much liquid as possible. Discard any solids left in the sieve.
  4. Assemble the lemonade: To the pitcher containing the strained honeydew juice, add the 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 3 cups of cold water (or sparkling water).
  5. Taste and adjust: Stir well to combine. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired (add more water for less intensity, or a splash more simple syrup/lemon juice for balance).
  6. Serve chilled: Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the honeydew lemonade over the ice. Garnish with thin slices of lemon or small honeydew balls, if desired.

Notes

For a vibrant color and flavor, ensure the honeydew melon is very ripe. If you prefer less pulp, you can strain the final assembled lemonade mixture again before serving.
