Ingredients

  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee chilled (espresso works beautifully too!)
  • 1.5 cups ice cubes
  • 0.5 cup milk dairy or non-dairy, your preference!
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or your preferred sweetener, adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Toppings
  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate syrup
  • Caramel drizzle
  • Coffee beans
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Tall glass

Method

  1. Start by brewing one cup of strong coffee. For the best flavor, use a dark roast or espresso. Allow it to cool completely in the refrigerator. This step is crucial for ensuring your frappe doesn't become watered down by hot liquid.
    1 cup strong brewed coffee
  2. In a blender, combine the chilled strong coffee, your desired type and amount of milk (whole milk provides extra creaminess, but almond, oat, or soy milk work wonderfully), granulated sugar (or your favorite sweetener), and vanilla extract.
1 cup strong brewed coffee, 0.5 cup milk, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  3. Pile in the 1 ½ cups of ice cubes. The amount of ice can be adjusted slightly depending on how thick you like your frappe. More ice means a thicker, icier texture.
    1.5 cups ice cubes
  4. Secure the lid on your blender and blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and has a thick, creamy, and uniform consistency. You want to achieve a texture similar to soft-serve ice cream. You may need to stop and scrape down the sides of the blender a couple of times to ensure everything is incorporated.
  5. Before pouring, give your frappe a quick taste. If you prefer it sweeter, add a little more sugar or sweetener and blend again briefly. If it's too thick, add a splash more milk; if it's too thin, add a few more ice cubes and blend again until you reach your desired consistency.
1.5 cups ice cubes, 0.5 cup milk, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  6. Pour your perfectly blended Iced Coffee Frappe into a tall glass. Now comes the fun part: topping it off! Drizzle with chocolate or caramel syrup, add a generous dollop of whipped cream, sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder, or even add a few whole coffee beans for an authentic touch.
Whipped cream, Chocolate syrup, Caramel drizzle, Coffee beans, A sprinkle of cinnamon

Notes

This Iced Coffee Frappe is best enjoyed immediately after blending. Stores in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, but the texture will change.
