Ingredients

For the Tea Concentrate
  • 2 cups Water For steeping
  • 2 bags Green Tea Or 1 tablespoon loose leaf
  • 1 teaspoon Honey or Maple Syrup Adjust to taste
For Assembly
  • 1 cup Coconut Water Unsweetened preferred
  • 1 cup Cold Water To dilute
  • 1 cup Ice Cubes
  • 2 slices Lime or Lemon For garnish

Method

Instructions
  1. Heat 2 cups of water in a small saucepan or microwave until just before boiling (about 175°F / 80°C for green tea). Do not boil.
  2. Place the green tea bags (or loose leaf tea in an infuser) into the hot water. Steep for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove tea bags/infuser immediately to prevent bitterness.
  3. While the tea is still warm, stir in the honey or maple syrup until fully dissolved. Allow the tea concentrate to cool slightly at room temperature for about 5 minutes.
  4. In a large pitcher or two tall glasses, combine the cooled green tea concentrate, 1 cup of coconut water, and 1 cup of cold water. Stir well to combine.
  5. Fill two serving glasses completely with ice cubes.
  6. Pour the iced tea mixture over the ice. Garnish each serving with a slice of lime or lemon before serving immediately.

Notes

For a stronger flavor, reduce the amount of added cold water. Ensure the green tea is not over-steeped, as this can make the drink astringent. Shelf life of pre-made concentrate is 2 days in the refrigerator.
