Ingredients

For the Tea
  • 4 cups Water
  • 4 bags Black Tea Or 4 teaspoons loose leaf tea
  • 1 cup Fresh Strawberries Hulled and roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar Adjust to taste
  • 1/2 medium Lemon Juiced
For Serving
  • As needed Ice Cubes
  • 2 garnish Strawberry Slices For garnish

Method

Instructions
  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water, chopped strawberries, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the black tea bags (or loose leaf tea in an infuser) to the strawberry water. Cover and let steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on desired strength.
  3. Remove the tea bags or infuser. Strain the strawberry tea mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a heatproof pitcher or bowl to remove the solids. Press gently on the strawberries to extract maximum flavor, then discard solids.
  4. Stir in the fresh lemon juice. Taste the tea and add more sugar or lemon if necessary. Allow the tea base to cool down to room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  5. Fill four tall glasses completely with ice cubes. Pour the cooled strawberry tea mixture over the ice.
  6. Garnish each glass with a fresh strawberry slice and serve immediately. For best flavor, serve within 24 hours.

Notes

For a caffeine-free version, substitute black tea bags with hibiscus tea bags. If you prefer a less sweet tea, start with 2 tablespoons of sugar and adjust up.
