Ingredients

For the Tea Base
  • 8 bags Black Tea (like Lipton or Luzianne)
  • 4 cups Boiling Water
  • 4 cups Cold Water
For the Peach Sweetener
  • 1.5 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1 cup Water (for syrup)
  • 1 cup Fresh or Frozen Sliced Peaches Thawed if frozen
  • 1 teaspoon Peach Extract (optional, for extra flavor)

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare the peach simple syrup: Combine 1.5 cups sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Do not boil aggressively.
  2. Add the peach slices to the hot sugar syrup. Remove from heat, cover, and allow the peaches to steep in the syrup for at least 15 minutes while you brew the tea.
  3. Brew the tea: Place the 8 tea bags in a heat-safe pitcher. Pour 4 cups of boiling water over the bags. Let steep for 5 to 7 minutes, depending on desired strength. Remove and discard the tea bags.
  4. Combine liquids: Stir in the 4 cups of cold water into the brewed tea concentrate. Allow the tea to cool slightly at room temperature.
  5. Strain and sweeten: Strain the peach syrup (discarding the peach slices, or reserving them for topping) and pour the syrup into the tea concentrate. Add peach extract now if using. Stir well to combine.
  6. Chill completely before serving over ice. Garnish with fresh lemon slices or additional peach wedges.

Notes

For an authentic Southern taste, use a tea blend specifically designed for iced tea, like Luzianne. Adjust the sugar in the syrup to your exact preference. This tea is best served very cold.
