- In a small saucepan, combine the water (or milk), Cream of Rice cereal, and salt.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming on the bottom.
- Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes, or until the cereal has thickened to your desired consistency.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the mixture to rest, covered, for 1-2 minutes to set further.
- Pour the hot Cream of Rice into a bowl.
- Top immediately with the pure maple syrup, butter (if using), and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon. Stir gently before serving hot.
Notes
For a richer bowl, substitute the water with unsweetened almond milk or whole milk. If you prefer a creamier texture straight off the heat, let it stand for 3 minutes before serving.
