- Prepare the Cake Batter:
- Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Bake the Cake:
- Divide batter into greased cake pans. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 25–30 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Make the Buttercream Frosting:
- Beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in heavy cream and vanilla. Tint with food coloring as desired.
- Assemble and Decorate:
- Layer the cakes with frosting. Decorate using fondant Moana figurines, sea creatures, piping gel for water, and edible glitter.
Notes
You can prepare the fondant decorations a day ahead. Chill the cake before decorating to help the buttercream set properly.
