Ingredients

Peach Bread Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mashed ripe peaches about 2 large peaches, pureed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk whole milk recommended
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional Topping
  • 2 tablespoons turbinado sugar

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, combine the mashed peaches, melted butter, beaten egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the well of the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix. A few lumps are okay.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle the top with turbinado sugar, if desired.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top begins to brown too quickly, loosely tent with aluminum foil.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra peachy flavor, you can fold in 1/2 cup of fresh or frozen (and thawed) diced peaches into the batter along with the wet ingredients. Ensure peaches are well-drained if using frozen.
