Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-natural peanut butter unsalted, xylitol-free, smooth or crunchy
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree 100% pure pumpkin, not pie filling, canned or freshly steamed and mashed
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats plain, uncooked, can be pulsed for finer texture
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce smooth
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon optional, ground

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • - Baking Sheet
  • - Parchment Paper

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the all-natural peanut butter, pure pumpkin puree, and unsweetened applesauce.
1 cup all-natural peanut butter, 1 cup pumpkin puree, 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  2. Stir these wet ingredients together until they are well combined and form a smooth, consistent base.
  3. Gradually add the rolled oats and optional cinnamon to the wet mixture.
1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  4. Mix until a thick, dough-like consistency forms. You might need to use your hands to knead it together, ensuring all ingredients are fully incorporated. The dough should be firm enough to roll but slightly sticky.
  5. Take small portions of the dough and roll them into bite-sized balls or press them into desired shapes using cookie cutters. You can also flatten the balls slightly for easier chewing.
  6. Place the shaped treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate them for at least 1-2 hours to allow them to firm up. This step is crucial for ensuring they hold their shape and have the right texture.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Freeze for up to 2-3 months. Microwave a single treat for 5-10 seconds for a less firm texture.
